Hi Reader, firstly let me say wherever you are in your recovery you are beautifully and wonderfully made! I promise.
Before we dive into a meaty topic I wanted to share a story or two from the tales of when Priya's life goes wrong. I swear I could write a book on this topic. Firstly the time I tried to put up shelves. Let's face it, that shouldn't be hard, right? Well I rushed in (as I do) and didn't check the walls, I didn't do the ground work and just whacked up the shelves. They looked ok but fell down within a week.
Maybe you are like those shelves with your recovery? You've done a quick patch up job and things look ok on the outside but that internal wall is wobbly. Those shelves could come down at any moment
Then there are all the many times I've gone wrong driving somewhere (that is WITH the satnav on!). I'm well known for it now. Why? Well I don't look ahead at the route, I lose track and get distracted from the map or I just don't quite understand that turn off means turn off. Who knows. In our car these diversions off the route are called "tea breaks". Don't worry we are going for a short tea break kids!
Maybe your recovery is full of diversions. You start off well, with the sat nav on full blast. Then you get distracted by the song on the radio, you take a wrong turn and you don't actually get to your destination of full recovery.
Quasi-Recovery is when you stop short of full recovery. It may look like you have recovered but you know there are still niggling thoughts, odd food rules, tracking, diet culture, things you can't eat, places you can't eat at.... you can add to this list.
If this is you then I want you to know that full recovery is worth it. When that voice is quiet you can live life to the full. When you have full food freedom you can relax around eating. It doesn't mean your weight has to spiral out of control or that you lose yourself. It means you find peace and can accept yourself. I know because I've been there and I've worked with many, many others who have travelled this path over 15 years in my work.
So today I want to invite you to step out of the comfort zome and come work with me for 12 weeks on the Recovery Tribe Course. Group coaching sessions Tuesday mornings, drop in sessions Friday lunchtimes, 12 modules of education and resources, daily community.
YOU IN?
Recovery hugs,
Priya xxx
PS: If you skipped here then you can now book on to the Recovery Tribe course as I want you to get out of Quasi-recovery and find peace. Ready? Then we can book a discovery call here.
TESTIMONIAL:
" Priyas honesty, compassion and support, Not making us feel blame or shame and accepting there may be slips, but we can pick up and move on still. I also found the group meditation we did at the beginning of many sessions helpful and will try to continue to use some."
"There is an abundance of information, downloadable worksheets, mindfulness tools/exercises and mantras - all that can be looked back on again and again, covering so many topics to help lead to a, hopefully, 'full' recovery."
