Welcome

This month we're focusing on nourishment and myth busting. Once again (!) there seems to be lots of misinformation, extreme diets and straight up conspiracy theories going around at the moment. So scroll for tips on how to look out for these red flags. In particular, I've highlighted seed oils. These are oils like sunflower oil, and rapeseed oil, which are getting a lot of bad press. Products like oat drinks are being labelled as inflammatory due to having a small amount of rapeseed oil to improve their texture and similarity to dairy milk. Read on for a more thorough review of evidence so you can learn more about what is safe to include.

I've also been featured in a few different podcasts and TV interviews recently. It is always lovely to get to speak about topics I am passionate about in more detail in the hope it will reach more people.

Keep well, and I'll speak to you next time!

There's no perfect diet!

Here’s the truth: there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to nourishing our bodies. There are so many ways to eat and meet our nutritional needs.

Oat milk is safe!

There is lots of fear mongering around oat-based drinks but they are safe to drink and can be a good alternative to dairy should you choose it.

Social media protection

The internet is sadly full of misinformation, sometimes from sources that look credible. Here's what to look out for.

Take a scroll through social media, and you may see seed oils being accused of contributing to inflammation, chronic diseases, and overall poor health. But are these claims backed by solid science?

Let's look at the actual evidence. In my most recent blog post, we can delve into the role of omega-6 fatty acids, review the evidence on seed oils and inflammation, and examine why some studies report negative effects while broader research does not. Instead of a fear-based post telling you to cut lots of foods we will provide a balanced, evidence-based perspective. My hope is that by the end you will understanding the true impact of seed oils on health, and can make an informed choice that is right for you.
